Essential Jewellery Care Tips and Maintenance Guide For HOS Jewelry

A piece from House of Seven is more than just an accessory; it’s a timeless investment. Proper care ensures your jewelry maintains its brilliance, shine, and longevity. Here are some essential tips to help you care for and preserve your treasured pieces.

Maintaining the Shine

Every HOS piece is treated with a special technique to prevent dullness, but following these care instructions will further protect its radiance:

  • Avoid Prolonged Exposure to Air: Jewelry can lose its luster when left exposed to air for extended periods. Tarnishing is a natural process but can be reversed with proper cleaning.
  • Remove Before Bed and Activities: We recommend taking off your jewelry before sleeping, showering, or engaging in physical activities.
  • Protect from Chemicals: Avoid exposing your jewelry to chemicals like perfumes, cleaning products, chlorine, saltwater, and even sweat, as these can compromise its integrity.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

Gentle Cleaning with Soap and Water: Mix a small amount of soap with lukewarm water and gently rub the piece with a soft toothbrush, perfect for getting into hard-to-reach places. For persistent dirt, repeat the process with clean water.

Handle Gold-Plated Items with Care: Gold-plated pieces need extra care. Gently rub them to avoid losing the plating. Use a special silver-polishing cloth to restore shine, but remember this won't fix scratches or dents.

Storing Your Jewelry

Keep Away from Sunlight and Heat: Store your jewelry in a padded box or a tarnish-resistant bag, away from direct sunlight and warm places. Airtight plastic bags (polyethylene) can also be used, but avoid rubber containers as they accelerate tarnishing.

Avoid Humid Places: Never store your jewelry in the bathroom or any humid environment. HOS boxes are not airtight and are not designed for long-term storage, as they may not protect against color alteration.

Important Note

Gold-plated items from HOS are more delicate and may lose their color over time. The rate of fading depends on several factors such as exposure to skin chemicals, sweat, and the wearer’s skin pH level. Proper care is crucial to maintaining the appearance of your gold-plated jewelry.
